Ernest “Ernie” Minoru Shimizu, 68, of Hilo died March 3 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was an insurance salesman for William F. Jones Insurance Agency and the former Crown Life Insurance Company; He was also a motorcycle safety instructor and U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. James Riley Walsh, 67, of Pahoa died Friday, March 6, at Hilo Medical Center. Born and raised on Oahu, he was a member of the Army National Guard in Waimanalo for six years, worked in management for several Waikiki Hotels, and managed retail music stores on Oahu and Maui.
